Presentation Evening 2017

Our annual Presentation Evening took place on 19th October 2017 at the Leyland Hotel. The guest speaker was Dame Sue Ion, a prominent expert in the nuclear industry, and an alumnus of Penwortham Girls High School.
Dame Sue Ion is Chairman of the UK Nuclear Innovation Research Advisory Board (NIRAB). She represents the UK on a number of international review and oversight committees for the nuclear sector including the Euratom Science and Technology Committee which she chairs. She is the only non US member of the US Department of Energy’s Nuclear Energy Advisory Committee on which she has served since 2005.
The week before the Presentation Evening Dame Ion visited us at Academy@Worden and had a tour of the school, meeting staff and pupils. She was extremely impressed with the school and spoke very warmly about it on the night, telling students that they were lucky to be attending such a great school. We would like to thank Dame Ion for speaking, giving out the awards and GCSE certificates and for her inspirational speech.
