DofE Practice Expedition – The ‘Brilliant’ Bronze Team

Once again the Academy has had a successful Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition, all the pupils showed excellent map reading, campsite and team-working skills whilst away for two days at Beacon Fell.
Tent building was challenging due to the windy conditions but everyone persevered and they soon set up the camp. Some of the pupils hadn’t even camped before but showed great resilience and resourcefulness.
The walks were situated around the Beacon Fell area where they practiced leading the group, map reading, taking bearings and adhering to the countryside code.
The day finished off with a campfire and toasting marshmallows, before settling down for the night. Well done to all the team who have done fantastically well!
