Wear a Football Shirt to School Day 2018
25/06/2018

In a celebration to support the FIFA World Cup we have decided to give pupils the option to wear a football shirt to school on England’s final group game on Thursday 28th June.

The football shirt will replace the school blazer/jumper/shirt and tie for the day. The rest of the school uniform must be worn, and money will be collected by form tutors prior to the day. There will be a £1.00 charge to wear a football shirt, which will go to raise funds for medical treatment for Robert Howard, who is crowdfunding to pay for cancer treatment.

The Pye family have all been former pupils at Worden, and it’s an excellent opportunity to help out the family in their time of need.

Robert Howard who lives in Leyland was diagnosed with an incurable Glioblastoma Stage 4 Brain Tumour In September 2017. Faced with the devastating news that her husband could have just months to live, Emma Howard refused to give up and is instead trying to raise £50,000 for treatment abroad. Electrician Robert, 33, was diagnosed with brain cancer - Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4 - last September after suffering from severe headaches.

Although chemotherapy at Rosemere Cancer Centre has shrunk the tumour slightly, he will still need to fund specialist therapy in Germany - or even Istanbul - which could cost £50,000. Emma, 29, from Leyland, said: “The day when the surgeon diagnosed my husband with brain cancer is still etched in my memory. “Numerous doctors specialists, consultants said the prognosis wasn’t good and gave him a life line of 12-18 months to live, and we should make as many memories as we can.
