Armistice Day 2020
11/11/2020

In school we have been decorating our year group bubbles with poppies for Armistice Day, and learning about the importance of reflecting upon the services and sacrifices of the Armed Forces during learning quarter.

This lovely poem was written by Lewis in Year 8.

Through a Soldier’s Eyes

The sight of bullets flying over me,
Being surrounded by muffled yells saying “retreat!”

Being overwhelmed by fear,
Made me shed a tear,

Seeing my friends fall down,
Fighting for our Queen’s crown,

Remembering when we were little and used to play,
It was all fun and games until this day,

The overpowering push forward for glory,
Knowing we won’t be here to tell our story,

Walking towards our impending defeat,
I will not rest in peace knowing our last, mission was incomplete.
