The Art Department at Academy@Worden aims to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Students are encouraged to experiment with a broad range of artistic techniques and processes using an extensive range of equipment and media.
Projects at KS3 aim to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the formal elements: line, shape, colour, tone, mark-making, and texture. Students will explore these concepts through practical experiences under the guidance of a theme, working towards producing a final individual response.

GCSE Art and Design
Students who opt to take Art as an option at GCSE will continue to express themselves creatively and learn how to visually communicate their ideas. GCSE Art is an excellent option if you enjoy being creative, want to increase your practical skills and improve your analytical, and communication and research abilities. Art and design is a way of seeing things and making sense of the world around you.
Students will complete a portfolio of work during their Art GCSE in response to a selection of themes and starting points and one response to a chosen starting point from an externally set assignment paper.
